This piano trio is just as comfortable playing original compositions as it is standards. The combined influence of Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Thelonious Monk and many other jazz heroes can be detected in the trio’s playing alongside the work of more contemporary performers and composers.

Led by pianist Paul Edis [whose credits include playing at the 100 Club in London, gigs with Mark Nightingale, Steve Waterman, Alan Barnes and Vasilis Xenopoulos, as well as regular work with the Voice of the North], bassist Mick Shoulder [of gypsy-jazz outfit Djangology] and drummer Adam Sinclair [whose credits include working with Nitin Sawhney], the trio has performed at The Corner House, Opus 4 Jazz Club, at the Durham Brass Festival, at the Side Café and the Head of Steam, and is soon to perform as part of the 2008 Gateshead International Jazz Festival.

The trio regularly works with guest soloists, including saxophonist Graham Wilson, trumpeter Graham Hardy and trombonist Chris Hibbard. An album based on Paul’s and Mick’s original compositions is in the pipeline, as well as many more gigs in the region, and perhaps beyond…
