April 20th  'Extreme Measures'

Led by Barbados-born drummer David Carnegie, this recently formed outfit has quickly established itself as the most dynamic group to emerge from the North East in years. Their first few gigs, including an appearance at the recent Sage Jazz Festival, have attracted a new young audience alongside hardened jazz fans, showing that jazz has plenty to offer all ages of music fans. Extreme Measures is Gary Turner on Sax, Jamie McCredie on Guitar, Ben Gilbert on Keyboards, Stuart Davies on Bass and David Carnegie on Drums.

May 4th  'Paul Edis Trio' with

Chris Hibbard (trombone),

Noel Dennis (trumpet)

& VASILIS XENOPOULOS (saxophone)

Adam Sinclair drums      Paul Edis piano          Mick Shoulder bass

Top North East Trio plus two top brass players - Chris Hibbard on trombone and Noel Dennis trumpet & flugelhorn

May 18th 'The Mick Shoulder Quintet

This is the same Mick Shoulder who for many years has played bass for and led the very successful Hot Club styled group ‘Djangology’ and he is also one of the most in demand bass players in the North of England. This new quintet has given Mick a totally new direction and plays tribute to some of his favourite composers and musicians including Benny Golson, Horace Silver, The Jazz Couriers that featured two giants of British jazz Ronnie Scott and Tubby Hayes. The Quintet features an exciting line up that is fronted by the wonderfully lyrical trumpet and flugel horn playing of Graham Hardy and the dynamic and fluent tenor saxophonist Graeme Wilson with Paul Edis on piano and Adrian Tilbrook playing drums

So come on, leave the backing tracks at home and experience what it’s like to do it for real.
