jazzaction 'The Label' is a promotional record label that has been set up to promote and document the jazz talent in the North East region.
The aims of the label are:

To produce and make available, professional quality recordings for the regions jazz musicians.

To encourage the formation of new and interesting ensembles.

To stimulate new composition.

To provide a promotional tool for jazz musicians.

To improve the status of the regions jazz musicians.

To provide a regional showcase for new and innovative writing and to create a recorded document of its development.

Jazzaction does not profit from any revenue that might be gained by musicians and singers from the production of CDs on the Jazzaction Label.We do not arrange distribution for the CDs or offer professional management to any of the musicians involved.We are not responsible for any fees to musicians that might be claimed due to the manufacture of CDs on the Jazzaction Label.

To date we have released recordings by the Dave Borthwick (Trio), Voice Of The North Jazz Orchestra featuring John Surman (Chain Reaction), Gerry Richardson's 'Big Idea' (Cookin At The Cluny), Djangology (Echoes), Dancing Mice (featuring Pat Thomas, Mark Sanders, Lewis Watson, Graham Hardy), Northern Brass (Mixing IT - Kicking The Traces), Free Spirits (Conjunction), Voice Of The North Jazz Orchestra (Park Bench Story), Ruth Lambert (So Many Stars),Tim Garland's Northern Underground Orchestra (Due North),Gerry Richardson (This Is What We Do), Extreme Measures (EXM), Chikon (Andy Champion - Dave Black), Mark Williams Trio, Ruth Lambert (Easy Street), The Guitar Duo (Timeline), ACV (Fail In Wood), Zoe Gilby (Looking Glass) and are to release new recordings by, Paul Edis Sextet, HCW, Claude Werner Quartet.
All of the recordings will feature jazz musicians living and working regularly in the North East of England and musicians who are involved with projects in the North East. The recordings will feature mostly original compositions, that have been either written by the musicians themselves or commissioned especially for them.
