JAZZ ATTACK!

jazz workshop for schools

Action was very much the word when "Jazzaction" visited North East Lincolnshire.

Twenty pupils from Mathew Humberston, Lindsey, Hereford and Whitgift schools developed the skills of jazz and rock playing including improvisation and phrasing. They played timeless jazz classics and also produced entirely original compositions. Pupils performed on a variety of instruments including violins, clarinets, trumpets and a baritone proving that saxophones are not the only instruments that can produce jazz sounds, Richard Ingham was supported by a professional rhythm section including local guitar and bass tutor Warren Jolly. The standard of performances produced in such a short time was outstanding and inspired both pupils and tutors alike.

Education Development Officer for Music and Performing Arts Wes Lawrance said that the two days intensive workshops had been a wonderful musical experience, and hopes that the Jazz Attack team will be able to return soon.
