Jazz has often been described as the sound of surprise, Free Spirits are aiming to not only create surprising and stimulating music, but are seeking new ways of musical interaction between musicians of differing musical styles and cultures.
During the Spring, Summer and Autumn of 2004 Free Spirits will be writing and rehearsing new repertoire for this exciting new ensemble, which brings together four virtuoso musicians from the world of jazz, rock, pop, folk and classical Indian music to explore and expand the boundaries of Eastern and Western musical culture.
Sage Gateshead Jazz Festival 2006The Free Spirits project is a Jazzaction development funded by Regional Arts Lottery Programme and Arts Council England, North East.
